The Dolphin, Hackney

East London’s premier Meat Market.

Whenever I see the ‘Beer: helping people get laid since 1852’ slogans I think they should replace Beer with The Dolphin. It almost closed a few years back but pleasingly continues to see coked up lairy City Boys banging around on the dance floor at last knockings looking to score.

Analysis of the single scene aside, it’s a handsome Devil and retains Grade II listed status and many of the original Truman’s features still exist inside. Not a bad spot for a late drink, as it’s open until 4 on the weekend, but don’t bother getting there before midnight as it will be dead.

One I’m sure a lot of people are looking (read needing) to return to post-lockdown mark III.
